One Lovely Weekend

How is your weekend going?  Friday is our Saturday.  Waking up at 5AM to watch the sunrise and the hubby play with his new toy - a paramotoring engine (I'll write a Travel Gourmande post about Para-motoring tomorrow).   Watching him,  happy flying in the sky, taking photos of him and reading The Mortal Instruments City of Glass in the car whenever he's out of sight ,was how we spent our Friday.

A lovely weekend is not complete without a full breakfast. The hubby and I went to  Shakespeare & Co. a UAE based cafe/ restaurant and patisserie in  an interesting and eccentric decor.  Lots of floral designs, wicker chairs with velvet seating, lace, chandeliers, wall sconces, macaron cone towers with small horse statues, faux Renaissance feel.  It's a perfect setting for an afternoon high tea.  It makes you feel like a woman with a large gown with a  high poufy hair will just appear any minute.  It is one of my favorite places to go to.   I frequently enjoy a coffee break on my own at their branch in The Village Mall, Jumeirah. This time, we discovered their outdoor terrace in Arabian Ranches.   They're now opening up more cafes throughout the Middle East.

Their English breakfast is so-so.  It usually comes with roasted potatoes,
but we requested for hash browns instead. I wasn't impressed by the hash browns,
the amount of rosemary in it was a bit distracting. It misses the crunchiness of the outer layer.
However, their coffee and freshly squeezed green apple juice were really good.
I'm  now curious to try their tea selections.
Apart from that, it's the feeling you get in their decor that makes up  for it.
The lovely garden and scenery and the lively chintzy interior of the cafe is a great escape.

I wish you all a lovely weekend!
XOXO,
Arni

  2. What a lovely place for a breakfast. The one thing I loved about breakfast in Europe, were those cute little jars of jam.
