I found a new design hero. The brilliant Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz in this amazing collection of his personal images and ethereal creations. He transformed every nook and corner into a work of art. He shares his wisdom in bringing out the designer within us all into making a home that reflects ourselves , what our heart desires and never to please anyone when buying furniture or accessories. Luxury is not defined by labels. We can break the rules! The secret is in the harmony of materials, color, texture and tones with the perfect lighting. The importance of serenity and it is our emotion that would truly guide us and not our intellect. His work is a true masterpiece!
Be who you are born to be.
Guess What: This little girl happily playing on her own caught my attention and inspired me. She reminded me so much of myself when I was little, happy in my own world. I personally took this photo during a trip in New Zealand in 2007 at Christchurch Park.
I discovered this amazing design table lamp by Jordi Mila at INDEX Exhibition 2010 in Dubai. A versatile lamp inviting us to discover every facet of our humanity as it has four faces, four different aspects, four seasons. As our mood and emotions change, we can re-decorate instantly by rotating the four sided laser sintered shade ninety degrees via an internal mechanism. Each side represents one of the four seasons of the year. There are two options to choose from; the compact version or the higher piece with its base and neck available in gun metal or satin finish.
I visited my list of chateaus -to- see in the beautiful region of historic castles, the Loire Valley. All of which I had drawn during my college years in Architecture. I have always wanted to see them all for real.
Château de Chambord, Loir-et-Cher
Reminiscent of French Renaissance Architecture initiated by King Francis 1 as his castle dedicated to hunting. Unfortunately, he didn't live to see its completion. His successors abandoned the castle. It was Gaston d' Orleans, brother of King Louis XIII who saved it from ruin and later restored by the sun king, Louis XIV.
I don't want to romanticize it by editing the photos, because the castle is already romantic as it is. All the images came straight out of my camera. What you see is what you get, and way even more being there.
Hunting Hymn
Happy Wednesday everyone!
''Pouf '' reminds us of something inflated. A souffle' perhaps? A fluffy ottoman that could easily be moved anywhere bringing comfort to our footsies. It injects 'fun and fabulous' vibes into a space, bringing out the playful side of ourselves, while providing ample seating for an increasing number of guests at our house parties. Firmer and flatter versions could also transform as side tables. Add a serving tray on top et voila!

His opulent taste of combining bold patterns, rich texture and original colour palette definitely defines the "Thom" style. Classic simplicity with a modern flair along the borders of rustic edginess is his distinct design philosophy. I can't wait to get a copy of his first book that marvels and guides the home owner how to reflect their inner selves when decorating their own home.
His first book published by Atria in 2008
I heart "Thom" Style!
One of the most exciting news for me is to see Kelly Hoppen Home Collection at Indigo Expressive Living! Finally, we now have the priviledge to see her collection locally in the Middle East and that's incredibly awesome!
Welcome to my home! Interior design is my passion and I channel all my unused creative energy decorating our abode or by painting. All the artworks on the walls are photographs of various sceneries that my husband and I took during our travels. These images give us happy memories of our explorations together. We had them printed in black and white by a local printer using IKEA frames. The rest of the art pieces are my work, an abstract acrylic painting and a pen and ink sketch of the Eiffel Tower.
I'm still on the lookout for the perfect 8-seater dining set. I'm planning to purchase upholstered back dining chairs in cream or bone color. The perfect dining set I found in Falaknaz Habitat is unfortunately out of stock and was sold two hours prior to our shop visit.
Breakfast @ home with friends on a Friday morning
We very rarely watch TV, approximately twice in a month. The entertainment unit is not the focal point in our living space. Rather the conversation area with a huge suede sofa and enough seating for everyone is our priority as we love having friends over for dinner every weekend with lots of long conversations.
We are fortunate to have found a property with a great view of the garden. Perfect for relaxation.
Until next time. Have a great weekend!
"EYE" Table top Collection was designed by Sebastian Bergne and manufactured by Gaia & Gino made with Swarovski Elements jet crystals. Re-interpretation of ancient charms protecting the owner from evil eye or bad luck whilst being displayed.
