Artwork does wonders for a space especially when selecting the right one. I was particularly smitten when I saw these graphic artwork prints by Elei. I have featured her before in the Artist of the Week Series. Her colorful geometrical prints with inspiring quotes are definitely eye catching and they somehow add a touch of rhythm and movement to an otherwise lifeless wall.
Elei offers custom stationery and paper goods (party invitations, custom notepads, custom greeting cards, business designs and other collateral materials). Elei is committed to high quality and affordable design solutions that will craft your business at a very affordable and reasonable rate that will help you celebrate the most important events in your life using your style. Elei has a more personal approach in service that you cannot find in bulk websites.

Hello! How's life during the busiest day of the week? I'm helping out a friend re-decorate her apartment on a budget. It's a fun and challenging task indeed, and while she's enjoying her time away on vacay, I will surprise her with the mood board and drawings when she gets back and I'll share the design process here soon.
While I was searching for the perfect wall color for the accent wall at Benjamin Moore, I stumbled across chalkboard paints. I mentioned previously how I love chalkboard paints in kitchens, but long behold, they're even better on the home office wall!

This daily wall planner is brilliant!

and so is this!

Child Proof. My mom would have been relieved if chalkboard paints were available during my childhood.
I was one of those naughty kids drawing on the walls with crayons non-stop. Because of that she had to re-paint the walls or re-apply wallcovering every year. Thinking about it, it's great for design studios especially while brainstorming and conceptualizing. What other chalkboard applications can you think of at home?Design by SF Interior designer Amoroso Design |
Happy Wednesday!
These suspended seats are nests for creativity. They make the space both interesting and inviting. The child within us are nurtured when all of our weight is lifted and we're all hanging in there like a happy kid in his swing.

Hello Everyone! I'm back! I have to admit, I missed posting. After a tiring yet fruitful day of crammed meetings of 6 within a day in Kuwait City and two days of presentation appointments in Qatar, I'm glad to be back home. I will miss the five-star hotel bed sheets though and the yummy buffet breakfasts :)
Remember those days of last song syndrome when you can't get a song out of your head? That song in my head right now is Wiz Khalifa's Black and Yellow.

What if we translate this song into a room?

Eclectic living room design by Maison21 The chinoiserie behind the console is really flattering within this space. A splash of yellow lifts the spirit. Now, how can I get this song out of my head? |
I'm smitten by the inspiration magazine of Kährs particularly the soothing color scheme of a seaside home by the marina with a gorgeous view. I love the subtle touch of realism portraits here.
The view from the dining room is absolutely gorgeous! The contrast of the darker wooden flooring against the white panelled walls is impeccable and the wood texture makes a whole lot of difference.
On the contrary, a lighter shade of flooring complements the skylight and the monotone scheme going on.
I just need to post this. When I saw this image in the Middle East Interiors Magazine of this month's issue, I couldn't stop staring at it.

It had been a sleepy Tuesday today.
Have a great one!
Hello Everyone! I'm feeling extra inspired today so I have gathered a collection of brilliant home make-over ideas that would be applicable in various scenarios.
1. Blank Wall
Create a faux window by hanging mirrors. Take this Soho loft. I think this is really gorgeous.
Though in this part of the world where we live, it could be an ideal dust collector. Extra effort of cleaning them weekly would be the way to go.

How: Paint the back wall a darker color and with a laser level and mirror mastic,
hang 30cm x 30cm LOTS mirrors available in IKEA
They come in 4 pcs per pack.

2. Need a Home Office space
What I hate about desks at home is the clutter. Papers, files, and stationery hovering over the desk that is already occupied by the laptop and endless gadgets.
Convert an existing closet space into a home office. I suggest keeping the bi-folding or sliding door if possible to conceal it when not in use. I like how inspiring bulletin wall added a personal touch and identity to this office nook.

3. Empty Niches
Build a Book Nook. Convert niches and build a small library. The alphabetical or uncategorized collection of books can add plus points for ''homey'' factor into your home especially when you have the passion to read.
Contemporary home office design by Seattle interior designer Garret Cord Werner How: Measure the niche depth and overall height. Divide the height considering the bottom built-in drawers or pedestal. Check available shelves width in your favorite home depot. Measure with laser level and hang the shelves. Add in light points with the help of your electrician for extra shelf lighting or power points for your table lamps. |

After a stressful busy day at work, the non-stop mobile phone calls, endless emails, and to and fro in the car, all we crave is a quiet and peaceful break. After the kids are asleep or before joining the spouse, we might indulge in an activity that we enjoy. A time to slow down to take care of ourselves. Create a personal space at home, indoors or outdoors that invite relaxation.
Modern patio design by New York architect Dufner Heighes Inc |
I love this roof top terrace with great privacy in the middle of the urban jungle. The outdoor fireplace, teak furniture, chic planters provide a lovely escape for self nurturing.
Contemporary design by SF Architect Mahoney Architects & Interiors Create a Window Seat. It is a perfect nook to curl up and read a book or write on your journal. The great view is ideal for daydreaming. |
Mediterranean patio design Being close to nature is the fastest way to escape and clear the mind. The outdoor fireplace add romance for a dinner with your loved one al fresco here. If you have a vacant unused space in your backyard, convert it to a small patio. What about you, have you found a quiet corner in your home? XOXO, Arni |
A splash of colour affects the mood. Rays of pastels on an art wall especially at the entrance emits welcoming vibrance. Cheerful. Optimistic.
Take this set of frames of different finishes. I find this brilliant.
Various patterns harmoniously coordinated is another great example.
Inspiring, don't you think?
Happy Wednesday!

I'm presently daydreaming about home office spaces and I have concocted a rustic french theme when I saw the wallcovering from Anthropologie. I started developing the other elements around it and this is the final result.

Think three words to describe your bedroom. Mine would be: Dark. Organized. Haven. Though I haven't posted my actual chambre here yet, I think I have captured what I wanted.

Here's a second taste of matching what food I think of cooking and eating in each featured kitchen. So what food comes to mind? Feel free to share, what food you first think of? |

One of the most exciting things revealed by Pantone before the year end is the Color of the Year for 2011: Honeysuckle (Hot Pink). According to Pantone Color Institute, this spirit uplifting colour is both stimulating and encouraging throughout the exhaustive challenges we face in our everyday lives.
Color for Him, Her and Home..
Have a great Honeysuckle week ahead!
Hope you had an amazing New Year's Eve! To start off the Year of the Rabbit, I can't help thinking of the following; Furry, Huggable, White and Cozy. Imagine snow with a touch of subtle colors in the countryside. Being an old soul that I am, I couldn't resist feeling inspired by rustic whites. Since I've been wanting a new dining set for this year, I'm associating the theme with, guess what? Et voila..
Have a relaxing weekend before going back to work. Awesome first day of the year!
Vintage dining room via Living Etc
As we are all going to be extremely preoccupied in the kitchen tomorrow for the New Year feast preparations, well, I thought of creating an inspiration board of dreamy kitchens and the food I'd love to associate preparing in each of them. During the last few years of half domesticated life abroad, I'm doing the cooking myself. I love throwing dinner parties. With the limited period we have before our guests arrive, it is always a big help to have an organized kitchen. The whole relaxed vibe would definitely be absorbed by the food.
Food in this Kitchen: A spinach omelette with a mug of brewed coffee
I always adore windows overlooking the garden from the kitchen and the light that flows through the space.
Food in this Kitchen: Tagliatelle Carbonara
Food in this Kitchen: Pot Roast and Creme Brulee for dessert
The skylight is simply marvelous in this kitchen and I love the rafters.
Food in this Kitchen: Pad Thai and Penang CurryFor some reason, that's the taste I get from my palate looking at this photo.
The warm tones of wall color, wood finish and slate of the kitchen below. I love the way the black appliances were matched against the wood tone. The intimacy of the breakfast nook next to the fireplace is very homely.
I'm getting really carried away with this and I have to stop now as there are a lot of incredibly gorgeous kitchens out there by such talented designers.

I'm going to work on some last minute reports from home for a while despite my being on vacation. Hopefully, after 6 months of desperate search of dining chairs and table, I'd be able to find some on stock . Sadly, none of the affordable range of furniture shops of my preference here are even willing to place the order and are unsure when they would even make the next purchase. The custom furniture here are incredibly expensive so I might as well go for a signature piece instead, but then again being an expat, we would want these original pieces in our permanent home , right?
All these thoughts of kitchen and food, Bon Appetit!

I'm recently smitten by candlesticks as it is the perfect season to flaunt them. With all the feasting during these consecutive holiday weekends, the dinner party hosts are tempted to elaborately dress up the formal dining.
Eclectic Silver-Plated Candlesticks
Apart from the chandelier and pendants that are always at the center stage of illumination, Candlesticks are the eye candy of the season.

These Addison candleholders below from Pottery Barn are inspired by the 19th century bobeche. A handcrafted mix of solid and handblown glass that are available in various sizes with trays for decorative accents.

Huge array of stems and designs that would suit your tablescape theme.
Top tip: 'Your candles will burn for longer if you keep them in the fridge before lighting them,' recommended by Lizzie O’Prey, author of Create Your Dream House and Garden.

Overhead lighting is very un- flattering during dinner parties as they are too bright and they cast shadows. Dimmer switch will definitely make it better. Switch on lamps instead and keep the lighting low. Scatter tea light candles everywhere to create the glamourous mood. Unscented candles work best at the table. Always remember, everyone looks stunning under soft golden light.
2 Days left for 2010. Let's make them memorable.
