Living in a tree house may sound like a distant dream. I like this Houzz Feature of a tree house with state of the art gadgets in Athens, Greece. Eclectic exterior and interior design by Architect Blue Forest UK Ltd.
For those who are doing a protein diet, here's a quick fix recipe during your veggie and meat days.
Quick Beef Recipe
Ingredients:
A pack of ground beef
3 full tomatoes, chopped
2 shallots. finely chopped
3 cloves of minced garlic
Salt and pepper
1 lime or lemon
1 Tbsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Vegetable Oil Spray
Salad:
Lettuce
Vinaigrette: Red wine vinegar & Oil
Dash of pepper (optional) on the vinaigrette
In medium high heat, saute garlic in a greased or vegetable oil sprayed medium sized pan until slightly golden brown. Add the ground beef and stir so that the meat absorbs the garlic taste. Add a dash of salt and pepper. Let it simmer a little until the meat turns slightly brown. Mix in the finely chopped shallots and tomatoes and squeeze some lemon juice all over. Stir and let it simmer in medium heat until the tomatoes are fully cooked. Serve hot.
Prepare the lettuce. Wash and drain. In a small bowl, whisk the 3 tbsp of red wine vinegar as you pour the oil. Add a dash of pepper as an option. Pour only on the lettuce upon serving.
The tomatoes and lettuce I've used in the photo are the last harvest we've had from our small patch garden at the backyard. It's amazing how they've grown in the desert. We planted them as seeds last September 2011 and we were enjoying the fruits during the gulf's ''winter'' season. Oh yes, they're organic. :)
Bon Appetit!

Arni
Spring draws summer to close. Here are some relaxed summer inspired living areas that might catch your interest. It certainly captured mine.
1. For those dreaming to go to the South of France, why not bring Provence to your home?
2. Mix of styles. I love the crystalline coffee table!
3. Brilliant idea to have a day bed in the living area. Cozy!

How's your Friday going? I've currently been preoccupied combing through a lot furniture shops the past two days on a furniture hunt. One of the items in my long list is a bar stool intended for an informal meeting space at a corporate headquarters project I'm working on. It's upholstered leather. My budget is quite tight but I found this gorgeous Fizz Bar Stool from a showroom of a local Herman Miller distributor.
Simultaneously, I'm working on a new project for a two bedroom apartment interior. So excited! Bought the paint yesterday and the painters will start the work tomorrow. I will be posting photos on the progress soon.
Happy Weekend!

Arni
Just thought of re-arranging the coffee table. I have received two books about Coco Chanel from a very dear friend as a gift. The Design Hotels Book was also a present during a conference and The New Secrets of Style by InStyle is such a very useful fashion reference. The tray is an old purchase from The One Planet furniture shop in Dubai. Lots of candles! When entertaining, I never use the ceiling surface mounted luminaire ( ha! such a technical term that comes out from someone who worked in the field of lighting-just kidding). A lighting consultant friend, Carlos, mentioned to me that we should take advantage of indirect lighting coming out from floor lamps, table lamps positioned in very strategic areas that bring out the best within the space. It adds a soothing warm glow that washes out on the walls and furniture. Additionally, the candles make the experience much more memorable.
Here are more ideas and images on coffee table decorating from HGTV.com :
According to HGTV, key tips in decorating the centerpieces would be :
- to keep it personal
- to choose a theme
- to consider scale and proportion
- to add surprising accessories
- to stick to odd numbers - it doesn't necessarily have to be one coffee table.
- less is more
- to choose containers
Have a lovely Thursday!
Happy decorating!

Arni
I have resigned from my 8-5 job in order to start pursuing Arts and design. It has been four days since. After this big leap while I'm on a transition, I'm organizing our spare guest bedroom / future nursery into a home office.
I'm drawn by the color scheme of this rustic office space. I've always preferred a table standing at the center of the room or a desk that is not facing the wall, preferably with a view outdoors. I love the stimulation of the red artwork, pendant and accessories bring within this space neutralized by the greys and wood tones.

Playing with the camera this morning, I found my cat lazily lounging at his favorite spot.
His purring content during his leisure time is admirable.
We are always multi-tasking, feeling guilty if we're not doing something.
Why don't we take in the pleasure of doing nothing today.
Claim it. Breathe It. Feel good about it.
Just be in the present.

Arni
I wanted to create a mood board with the help of Olioboard for a sophisticated literary buff who loves to daydream about the characters in the fiction novels he or she reads. This is what came out of it. The Anise bench and velvet create a dramatic streak matched with dark floors.
